Helping Mamas Master Calm & Connection From Pregnancy Through PreSchool & Beyond

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers — strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”~Barbara Katz Rothman~

Building Community and Honoring Inspiration

Happy Mama Wellness is rooted in its mission to build a community of strong, nurturing Mamas who raise strong, compassionate children.

Together, we master calm and connection. We learn to parent with intention and integrity. We model gratitude and we give back to the world at large.

Our "Mama-it-Forward, Pay-it-Back" campaign ensures that we support each other on our journey without judgement or shame while at the same time honoring the people who inspired us along the way.

We Pay-it-Back by donating 10% of all REVENUE to non-profit organizations. How will you Mama-it-Forward and Pay-it-Back?

“Motherhood is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else's happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you're not sure what the right thing is...”~Donna Ball~

How Can I Support You?

First, I can listen...

Where are you on your journey?

What are your struggles and goals?

How do you want to feel as a Mama?

Then I can help you master connection...

If you're preparing for labor and birth, I can encourage you to listen to your inner voice, listen to your body and trust in both. I can encourage you to imagine yourself giving birth with confidence and visualizing the way you'd like to feel on your birthing day.

If you are trying your best to be a loving and nurturing Mama (but aren't quite where you want to be), I can remind you to listen to your inner voice and trust your instincts. I can encourage you to visualize a family dynamic where your child listens the first time and tantrums are extinct. And I can support you in making the changes that need to be made.

I can remind you to listen to your little one. Where are they on their journey, what are their struggles, what type of support do they need most and how best can you provide that for them?

Real Results From A Happy Mama

~ Nicole, Mother of Two ~

"I can't say enough about how fantastic Lynn is - we learned SO much in her childbirth class. I ended up having a fairly difficult labor and delivery. Having information on what was happening and how to stay calm and manage pain was absolutely essential to both my husband and myself. We were able to go into it feeling not only completely prepared but also cared for.

As far as her parenting support, I could not recommend anyone more. I absolutely love being part of the “Happy Mama Wellness” community and have learned so much from Lynn in my parenting journey. The tools she has given me to help me stay calm and understand the way my child learns and functions has truly changed the way that I parent. She is always accessible and willing to answer questions and I love that there are weekly checkins to help work through challenges.

The things that we have learned from Lynn have helped our household become a much more peaceful place. "

A Little Bit About Me

My name is Lynn Turcotte-Schuh. I'm a Certified Childbirth Educator and Parenting Coach. I help expectant Mamas prepare for labor, birth and postpartum through classes, mentorship and coaching. The Mamas in the trenches get actionable strategies to help them connect with their children and respond with intention rather than reacting with emotion.

Since the birth of my daughter in 2013, I have been helping Mamas blossom into engaged, nurturing parents that yell less and connect more...bringing peace and joy into their family. If that puts a fire in your belly, you're in the right place!

When I'm not working with other Mamas, I love spending time with my wife and daughter out in the garden, in the woods or by the ocean. You may find crochet needles, Harry Potter books and a playlist of 90's Hip Hop & Will Evans in our adventure bag...

You can get all the details (experience, credentials, background, etc) about me on the My Story page...

Samantha, Ben & Baby Lauren

I had the pleasure of working with Samantha & Ben in one of my 12-week, intensive Bradley Method (TM) sessions. I asked them to share their Birthing Day story and they were more than happy to. Samantha, Ben and Baby Lauren worked hard as a team and Lauren was born via a medicated vaginal birth. You can read their complete story below.

"Lauren's birth was NOTHING like we had expected. On Christmas Eve around noon, I felt like something was leaking and I wasn't sure if my water had broken. So I took a shower and went to the doctor to get checked and they said it wasn't amniotic fluid. I was thinking that I must have just peed my pants! Around midnight on Christmas Day I had the same sensation three times within a half an hour so I knew something was up. I called the doctor on call and he had me come in.

We got to the hospital around 1:30 am and my water had definitely broken (it gushed on the doctor haha) but I wasn't dilated at all and only about 40% effaced. The doctor gave me Cervadil at about 3 am and said it would be in for about 12 hours. About 4 hours later my contractions were insanely strong in my back and starting to overlap each other. By 9:00 am I was acting delirious and poor Ben was already exhausted from putting pressure on my back. I got checked and I was only 3 cm! I was like you have got to be kidding me! I was using every prop and position available.

By 1:00 pm I got checked again and had only gone to 4 cm. I was so defeated and exhausted from the pain. It was like I was in transition the whole time. I think my body was reacting really badly to the Cervadil. Thankfully, Lauren's heart rate was great. I finally was like, "I can't do this anymore" and I had the nurse give me some pain meds through my IV. It lasted about 15 min and then I was back in a lot of pain. About an hour later I talked to the doctor about an epidural, weighed my pros and cons, and decided to get one.

At first I was a little disappointed with myself but ultimately decided that I was well informed, had exhausted all other options, and was thinking that if I kept up the way I was that I would never have been able to push successfully. I got the epidural and was instantly so much more comfortable and relaxed. After that I went from 4 to 9 cm in just a few hours.

By about 5:00 pm, I was 10 cm dilated and ready to push. I pushed for two hours. She was not budging, so they used the vacuum for three contactractions and she was born at 7:22 pm. I had a bunch of tears and the doctor actually said, "I had to be creative to get things put back together." Hahaha! I felt like Humpty Dumpty.

While our birth was not at all how I had planned, it was awesome and we got a very sweet baby out of it. Every nurse mentioned to me what a wonderful coach Ben was! He was so well informed and helpful throughout the whole thing. All in all, it was an amazing experience!

Why It’s Important For You To Attend A Childbirth Class And How It Prepares You For Your Parenting Journey

Most Americans spend more time researching a new car than they spend researching and preparing for the birth of their baby. Figuring out which course is right for you and your family can be overwhelming…and many people choose to just live in ignorant bliss. In fact, the large majority of first time parents never take any sort of class. Please note, however, that this is one of those cases where just because most people do it this way, it does not mean it’s the best way. Let’s cover some of the AMAZING benefits of taking a childbirth class as well as what to look for in a good class.

The one guarantee I can give you is that your birth experience will not go 100% according to plan.

Instead of thinking about what you want your birth experience to BE LIKE, think about what you want your birth experience to FEEL LIKE. To help you out with that, here are some birth stories from Mamas I have worked with.

But that doesn't mean we can't help you find what you're looking for!
